The Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) is announcing the “Youth Engagement Award 2022”. This competition is part of a nationwide awareness campaign being run by SSDO on “Human Trafficking and Bonded Labor” currently in the provinces of Punjab and Sindh with the aim of spreading across all the provinces in future. The campaign aims to increase awareness on the risks, research-based issues and challenges associated with human trafficking and bonded labor in Pakistan, to create community-led efforts in combatting these crimes as well as to launch a national discourse on the topic, ultimately leading to further engagement of key policy makers.

Students from various universities are invited to take part in a group of 5 each in the following two competitions being announced:

  1. Research Work

  2. Social Work/ Activism


Under “Research Work” students are encouraged to undertake research work being published highlighting the issue of trafficking in persons and bonded labor in Pakistan and suggesting ways to curb the issues and cover case studies supporting their research work.

Under the “Social Work/ Activism”, students are encouraged to initiate or engage in any social activity in the community with the aim of spreading awareness and ensuring a considerable number of people being reached out.

  1. The participating team should be a group of no more than 5 students each

  2. Each group can participate in one of the categories only

  3. For research work, the methodology should be a combination of both qualitative and quantitative research and must cover atleast 1 real case study to support your findings.

  4. For social work, the activities should be community-led which should be supported by a video documentary capturing the impact of your activities undertaken.

  5. One winning team will be selected from each category.

  6. Each winning team will be invited for the international conference in February 2023 in Islamabad where they will be presented with the award, and they will have to present their work in front of all national and international experts on trafficking in persons.

  7. Last date for registering of the teams for the competition via online form provided on the SSDO website and submit a 2-page proposal is 7th September 2022.

  8. Timeline of conducting the action [including Advocacy, Awareness, Research, Social Action] is 21st September – 9th November 2022

  9. Deadline to submit your final project is 15th January 2023.
